Jun 30, 2023 · Trip Report. Jun 30, 2023, 11:26 AM. Save. I can’t overstate how much I loved this city. I spent a full month in Buenos Aires, living in an Airbnb in Palermo. The neighborhood was amazing, full of green spaces, cute cafes, and a ton of dogs. I highly recommend it!

San Telmo felt very safe when I was there two weeks ago. Very walkable, interesting street fair with many great offerings. San Telmo, Palermo, and Recoleta are very safe during the day using normal precautions.According to google Montevideo is 132 flying miles from BA and Mendoza is 650. Buque bus boats to MVD take around 3 hours, It totally depends on your interests/motivations/budget. MVD is not hugely different feeling than BsAs, in my opinion.. similar architecture, smaller scale, culturally similar.The US Embassy says there are approximately 23,000 American expats living in Argentina.I am pretty sure 22,000 of them are in Recoleta or Palermo Soho/Hollywood. These are the two neighborhoods that tourists, especially English speaking tourists, find most comfortable as well.

Buenos Aires is the most European city of South America. Other than the usual travel precautions which you would use in any large city, I find BA to be far safer than Lima. I have been in Lima for short visits each year for the last 4 years and I still don't feel safe there except for a couple areas of the city.
